Team Canada-Nouveau-Brunswick finish 5th at World Francophonie Games

Team Canada-Nouveau-Brunswick traveled to Beirut, Lebanon for the World Francophonie Games competing at the Eddé Sands Resort in Byblos.
During Elimination play, Team Canada-NB Men lost their quarter-final against Team Canada-Québec 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) to finish 5th at the Games, while the Women were set back 0-2 (15-21, 14-21) against eventual Gold Medalist Team France, and defeating Team Congo in the 5th place match 2-0 (21-6, 21-18)
On Thursday, Team Canada-NB defeated Team Seychelles 2-0 to advance to the playoffs and will face Team France. The Men's team qualified for playoffs and will face Team Canada-Quebec on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Team Canada-NB Men captured their first victory againt Team Congo 2-0 (21-18, 21-8), while the Women lost their match against Team Canada-Quebec 2-0 (10-21, 13-21)
On Tuesday, the Men's Team lost 2-1 to Lebanon 1 (21-16, 18-21, 11-15) while the Women's team captured their two matches of the day, defeating Lebanon 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) and Ivory Coast 2-0 (21-18, 21-7).
On Monday, the Women's Team, Cherie Campbell (Fredericton) and Jill Blanchard (Saint John) lost their match against Team Suisse 2-0 (21-12, 21-11), while the Men's Team of Mike Waugh (Fredericton) and Corey Akerley (Fredericton) lost 2-1 (21-13, 20-22 and 15-9).
