NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA GAMES WOMEN’S INDOOR TEAM

This past weekend the New Brunswick Women’s Indoor Canada Games squad officially opened exhibition play as they gear up to compete at this summer 2009 Canada Games in Prince Edward Island. Sunday Team Nova Scotia travelled to Moncton for two exhibition matches at CEPS on the University of Moncton campus. Team Nova Scotia is expected to be very strong this summer with several players who over the past two seasons have played considerable roles with various University teams within the CIS.

Match 1 ... NOVA SCOTIA 3-NEW BRUNSWICK 1 (19-25, 25-27, 25-17, 18-25)
Match 2 ... NEW BRUNSWICK 3-NOVA SCOTIA 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-21)

This upcoming weekend the team will take part in the Team New Brunswick Canada Games Rally being hosted in Moncton and will also host Team PEI on Sunday at 2:00pm at CEPS. NB will travel to Truro, NS on July 18th to play two more matches against Team NS before heading to train and compete in a Pre-Canada Games Tournament in Quebec July 28th-August 2nd. They take part in Week 2 of the Canada Games (August 22nd-29th) in Charlottetown.

Team members include Tanya Paulin (Bathurst, Middle, UNB), Joline Richard (Moncton, Outside Hitter, Sport Études Bleu et Or), Sigourney Stott (Moncton, Libero, Sport Études Bleu et Or), Crissy Roy (Bathurst, Outside Hitter, UdeM), Celina Abba (Fredericton, Middle, Sport Études Bleu et Or), Asia Leavins (Fredericton, Outside Hitter, UNB), Kim Roy (Bathurst, Outside Hitter, UdeM), Jenna Wamsley (Fredericton, Setter, UNB), Monica Jones (Fredericton, Libero, UNB), Véronique Carroll (Moncton, Setter, Sport Études Bleu et Or), Geneviève Lemay (Moncton, Middle, UdeM), Amber Gamblin (New Maryland, Outside Hitter, UNB), Stephanie Lagacé (Alcida, Outside Hitter, UdeM), Dominique Leblanc (Moncton, Middle, Sports Études Bleu et Or). Team Staff is Pauline Cormier (Dieppe, UdeM), Monette Boudreau-Carroll (Moncton, UdeM) and John Richard (New Maryland, UNB).
