On Sunday, White-Fontaine battled hard and eked out a quarter-final victory against the Ontario duo Leblanc-Sanders 2-0 (21-19, 21-19). This set-up their semi-final against top ranked team May-Sedgwick. May-Sedgwick came on strong in the first set to capture the early lead 21-15. White Fontaine returned to the second set determined, winning key points frustrating their opponents and were rewarded with a 21-19 set. May-Sedgwick eventually qualified for the FIVB Worlds in the final against Del Bianco-Chow (BC)
Coach Eric Moffatt noted that "Marc and Stephane continued to improve as the tourney came along. We impressed the other teams this weekend and were watched by VC BDC. This weekend shows that the guys still need continual high performance training to bring their level of play to the top of their game. We definitely left our semi-finals with our heads high after playing the best match of the entire selection tournament."
White-Fontaine will now look to take their experience to the Team NB International Francophonie Games Selection Tournament July 11th at Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton
