International Francophonie Games qualification tournament to be held in Fredericton July 11th

Beach volleyball teams from across New Brunswick are preparing for the International Francophonie Games Qualifier Tournament that will be hosted in Fredericton on July 11th at the Willie O’Ree Place Beach courts. The International Francophonie Games will take place in Beirut, Lebanon from September 26th to October 6th, 2009.

In partnership with the Province of New Brunwick, the winning teams of the Double Elimination Qualifying Tournament will take on training and will compete at the Atlantic Beach Championships in Parlee Beach August 8-9th, then compete at the Volleyball Canada Beach National Championships in Toronto from August 28th to 30th while training with Team Canada and Team Quebec in anticipation of the International Francophonie Games.

The Tournament Entry Fee for the Qualifier is $50 per team of Men’s doubles and Women’s doubles and registration is on the Volleyball NB website at www.vnb.nb.ca.

“This is a great chance for the athletes of our province to dedicate themselves and compete at a high performance level,” states Eric Moffatt, VNB Executive Director. “Many athletes are excited about the challenge that could lead them to the international competition overseas and seeing another area of the World.”
