VNB Vice-President Monica Hitchcock earns Gold Medal at 2009 USA Volleyball Adult Open Championships in Minneapolis

The Canadian Women’s Master teams traveled to Minneapolis this past weekend to compete in the 2009 Open from May 23 – 31. They took top spots in three categories:
Women 40’s – Fog Canada Masters 40 won SILVER
Women 45’s – Fog Canada Masters 45 won GOLD
Women 50’s – Fog Canada Masters 50 won GOLD
The Fog Canada Masters 40 won four matches and lost four, winning 8 sets and losing 9. They lost to KASHI (SC) in the finals, but still left with the silver medal. The Fog Canada Masters 45 won an incredible 10 out of 11 matches, winning 20 sets and losing only 4. They defeating ROOF Sportswear (SC) to win Gold. The Fog Canada Masters 50 won all of their 9 matches, winning 18 sets and losing only 1! They defeated CTF Brasil (BZ) to win top spot.
The following players were chosen as All-Stars: Joyce Gamborg (Fog Canada Masters 40), Michelle Prince (Fog Canada Masters 40), Christina Thorson (Fog Canada Masters 40), Valerie DeRocco (Fog Canada Masters 45) Monica Hitchcock (Fog Canada Masters 50), and Karin Maessen (Fog Canada Masters 50)
MVPs: Margaret Negenman (Fog Canada Masters 50), Bonnie McRae-Kilb (45)
